Internal Awareness Method ™

Since the early 1900’s, adults and have taken what I refer to as "20th Century" lessons, these lessons teach strokes and realy focus on movement, but many students fail to learn strokes because they are afraid in the water. They ask, "What if I drown? What if I sink? What if I panic? I want to feel safe before you teach me strokes."  Strokes do not provide comfort or control in water...they only provide locomotion.,

Until 2014, there were no significant changes to the basic lesson format.  Then in 2014, Swimmers Acceleration™ began to teach 21st Century swimming lessons.  Our system is a true and real paradigm shift in teaching adults to swim and works for everyone.  Comfort, relaxation and control are taught first. Without this knowledge, learning to swim comfortably and remain at ease in deepest of water is impossible. You can learn to swim the same way you learned to walk.  It cannot possibly fail: all your questions are answered and no steps are skipped. The system is gentle, fun, and simple. Heal your personal fear instead of managing it!

Swimmers Acceleration™ is the only UK swim instruction organization that teaches comfort and control to both the novice swimmer and the elite Olympian. It is the wave of the future and the imperative of today. It is the way every single swim student becomes successful. And every adult should know how to safe in water. If you ever found yourself hurrying across the deep end to get to the other side, afraid to stop in the middle, if you have not been able to learn to breathe, or if you have tried to learn to swim even though you dislike putting your face in water or have not learned to float comfortably, steps in your learning programme have been skipped!  You may be glad to know you DO NOT have to do anything you do not like in order to learn to swim. This leads to triumph, at last.

 What is swimming?

Yes, it is strokes, but that is not all. It also comfort in water, confidence, and being in control: the ability to be you in water, whether it is in the shallows or deep, pool, lake, or ocean.  It is being able to rely on yourself—not on the bottom or the side of the pool— for your safety. Being able to rely on yourself for your safety means you know how your body and the water work together, and you know how to remain in control. Neither of these skills are related to your arms and legs. Neither is taught in traditional swimming lessons in the UK and around the world. In fact, they're so intangible; most instructors have NOT given them any thought.

What is the problem?

Missing out on all the fun is one problem. Drowning is the other problem. The nation's swimming and recreation industries have slowly awakened to the fact that drowning is preventable.

Their biggest efforts have gone into providing good fences around pools, better life guarding, and stepped-up lessons for children, but no effort has been invested at a national level from the A.S.A the governing body of swimming here in the UK to ensure adults know how to be safe in water.  Roughly 46% of all adults are afraid in water over their heads in pools.  64% are afraid when in deep, open water. 39% percent are afraid to put their heads under water. (Gallup Poll, 1998) If they are afraid, they don't understand how the water works. They often can't keep themselves from panicking in unforeseen situations.

What is the answer?

Today, it is clear to everyone involved with our programme that Swimmers Acceleration™ is the missing ventricle from the heart of beginning swimming lessons: we teach our students

·         How to be comfortable

·         Feel safe

·         How to remain in control

·         How the water works.

Swimming comfortably and feeling safe in deep water is the spontaneous, inevitable result. We hope you'll join us and find out what’s possible in the world of swimming and adult Beginning lessons.

There is no pressure and no hurry.  You will not be asked to relax! You can just be yourself. You cannot possibly fail, unless you do not let yourself be yourself!  You will learn how to be at ease in water and play; how to let the water do all the work; how to be yourself in it in the water; how to  move with ease and grace without effort; how to keep water out of your nose; put your face in HAPPILY; feel the water holding you up.

You will learn to float and stand up; how to move from here to there; how to remain in control; the nuts and bolts of preventing panic; how the water works; how to maneuver at will in the water from back to front and change directions; that any depth of water will hold you up; to replace your unwanted beliefs about water with beliefs you want; to begin to be the swimmer you are born to be.   All learning is at your own pace.
